Here is a short video showing a 360 degree view of my favourite location for operating from my car. I have had many good DX contacts from here, including the Falkland Islands.

In order to take part in morse classes on 2m I have to operate /M from the car at my DX parking spot.

One winters evening in the middle of the class it began to snow. From a completely dry clear road to the snow in the photograph in just 10 minuets. As this is a country lane I abandoned the morse class soon after this photograph was taken.

My thanks to Roger G3LDI and Malcolm G3PDH for the classes. Great fun.

Here are a couple of shots of the latest mobile setup.

On the left shows the FT 857 head unit. It has been mounted in a mobile phone holder, which is attached to a “goose neck”, this in tern is attached to the windscreen by a suction cup. You can just see them above the rig in the photograph.

This is a system I have used in the past and it works well, surprisingly secure.

To the right you can see the aerial arrangement. It consists of the ATAS 120 and a dual band whip. The ATAS is used on HF and 6m, the dual band whip is for 2m and 70cm operation.

The ATAS needs good grounding to work well, at the moment I still have some work to do on that, but it is working at the moment.
